A pedestrian was struck and killed on East Marginal Way S, according to Seattle Police.

The fatal collision occurred shortly before 5 a.m. Jan. 4 near South Orcas and South Mead streets in Georgetown.

Police investigators determined the victim had been walking in the lanes of traffic without a pedestrian crossing when a northbound sedan struck her, according to a Seattle Police blog post.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The King County Medical Examiner later identified the victim as Lindsey Tara Nicole Reeves, 46.

The driver remained at the scene and was not found to be under the influence of any substances or otherwise impaired, according to police. Circumstances leading up to the collision remained under investigation.

"It's a big mystery," Seattle Police Detective Eric Muñoz told the Seattle Times. "We don't know why she was in traffic. We don't know which direction she was traveling."

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 206-684-8923.
