A fire near railroad tracks shut down the road

Airport Way South was closed to traffic in both directions Tuesday morning in the 7500 block due to a fire near the railroad tracks that run parallel to the road. Dark smoke was seen wafting high in the air about 9:15 a.m.
Seattle Police forced southbound drivers to make a U-turn and northbound drivers were stopped on the road near the King County International airport main entrance.
Seattle Fire and King County International Airport Fire Rescue worked to get the fire under control.
A firefighter on scene said a pile of railroad ties were burning when they arrived and were extinguished.
The road was expected to reopen once firefighters cleared the scene.
