Drivers who use the State Route 99 First Avenue S Bridge over the Duwamish River will likely experience more traffic headaches soon.

The bridge's northbound lanes will be closed from 5 a.m. Monday, March 9 to 8 p.m. March 11. Drivers will need to find alternate routes.

Last month, engineers found issues with the steel grid bridge deck and closed two northbound lanes slowing northbound traffic into Georgetown for the past several weeks.

The Washington Department of Transportation plans to temporarily repair the bridge beginning with the closure March 9-11. A second closure is expected in mid- to late-April followed by full replacement of the northbound bridge deck in 2027.
