Dead Baby Bikes bash is back

You aren't invited, but it should be a good time

The post-race party for the Dead Baby Downhill bicycle race returns to the heart of Georgetown on Saturday night.

The race starts at 6 p.m. at Tim’s Tavern in White Center before the party gets going on South Vale Street in Georgetown with a celebration filled with bikes, beer, and bands. Along with South Vale Street, parts of Harney and 12th Ave South will be closed. Airport Way South will remain open.

If it is at all like past parties, expect to see tall bike jousting, tiny velodrome races and maybe bicyclists jumping through a ring of fire. Brass bands and punk bands will play, including Shame Banger, Molotov Juicebox, Distest and The Coolers.

But you shouldn’t go. Organizers aren’t interested in drawing a crowd.

“I have zero interest in putting information out there,” Chris Quigley with the Dead Baby Bikes Club told the Gazette when reached for an interview. “We don’t want a bunch of people knowing about this.”

When asked about the party’s location, which was previously discussed at a Georgetown Business Association meeting, Quigley would only say, “If you’re walking around Georgetown on Aug. 1, you’ll know.”

The return of Dead Baby Bikes bash is back is exciting news for people who enjoy community cycling events and local traditions. It is always encouraging to see gatherings that bring riders together, create memorable experiences, and support a positive atmosphere for everyone involved. While reading different discussions online, I also came across information about 30/500 cocodamol, showing how varied online conversations can be. It is interesting how communities form around completely different topics, from cycling events to health information. Looking forward to seeing photos, stories, and highlights from this year's event and the people taking part.
