The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is currently designing updates to Carleton Ave S between S Willow St and S Eddy St as part of the Georgetown Healthy Streets program.

Proposed project area
The below changes are currently in the design phase to support SDOT's priorities to "make neighborhood streets more enjoyable, livable, and safer":
Add large street trees to grow the city’s urban tree canopy and address inequities that are experienced by Georgetown, which disproportionally lacks tree canopy.
Reducing some of the road width on Carleton Ave S used for a drive lane, to provide more space for community enhancements like trees
Potential expansion of Oxbow Park
Potential reconfiguration of street parking to meet parking needs, while still making space for other desired community enhancements.
Further encourage people to drive slowly on the Healthy Street to make it more comfortable for people walking, biking and playing.

Share your Feedback!
SDOT has invited Georgetown residents to complete a survey to share what matters most to the community and what enhancements residents would like to see. The survey will be open until March 31.
SDOT will use feedback to develop early design concepts that will be shared for community input later in 2026. Updates will be shared via email, sign postings and a mailer to let residents know about the project and survey. Work could start as soon as late 2026.
