Walk Boeing Field to help remove debris - July 20

Are you an aviation geek? Or do you simply enjoy walking a long distance on tarmac? King County International Airport is inviting community members to participate a FOD (Foreign Object Debris) Walk this month, which takes place on the large runway (14R/32L), and aims to remove any potential hazardous objects from the airfield. Details below!

Saturday, July 20th

7:00am - 10:00am

Want to participate? You'll need to:

  • Register here

  • Complete a waiver (adult waiver here, minor waiver here); required for each participant in your party!

Day-of information:

  • Participants should arrive and park at the Museum of Flight (9404 E Marginal Way S, Seattle, WA 98108) for check-in between 7:00am and 8:00am.

  • There will be a mandatory safety briefing at 8:15am

  • All participants will board buses for the runway no later than 8:30am

  • You will be given bags and grabbers to remove any potential debris from the runway's surface. There will be food and at the end of the walk in the Museum of Flight's parking lot. This event is only limited to 250 people. Participants must be at least 14 years old, unless accompanied by an adult.

Friends of Boeing Field will be hosting an Airport Community Day event immediately after the FOD Walk, from 10:00am - 3:00pm. Meet businesses and organizations around the airport to learn about what they do, and learn about potential job opportunities. There will be STEM activities for children, static aircraft displays, and food trucks!
