Part of Corson Avenue shut down for more than an hour Tuesday afternoon as crews worked to remove a trailer and its cargo from the road.

About 1 p.m., residents heard a boom that even shook houses a block away and made pets scamper for cover.

A trailer reach and the shipping container it carried became disconnected from the semi-truck hauling them causing the load to crash to the pavement near the 6600 block of Corson Avenue. A Seattle Department of Transportation response crew and crane operators worked to lift and place the parts on other vehicles to take away.

Corson Avenue opened to traffic again about 2:15 p.m.
