Produce and other goods will be available 3-7 pm on Thursdays through early October

The Georgetown Farmer’s Market returns for a second year this week.
Beginning this Thursday, May 7, stalls selling seasonal fruits, vegetables and other food products will set up on the block of Carleton Ave S between S Warsaw St and S Willow St outside of Bloom Bistro & Grocery, 6601 Carleton Ave S.
The farmer’s market will be open 3-7 p.m. on Thursdays from May 7 through early October. On those afternoons, the north end of the block will be closed to traffic and on-street parking will be prohibited.
Last September, the Georgetown Farmer’s Market debuted and ran for six weeks. In November, the Seattle City Council passed its current budget and allocated money to support the market and make it more equitable.
This year, the market will accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Seattle Fresh Bucks benefits.
Without a grocery store and very few shops selling fresh produce, Georgetown is considered a food desert. Plus, about one in five adults in the Georgetown-South-Park-South Beacon Hill area experience food insecurity, which is double the King County average, according to city and county public health data.
