Residents can comment on King County International Airport plans at a Wednesday, Oct. 14 meeting.

King County International Airport wants to move a key taxiway 75 feet closer to Georgetown residents. The proposal also includes moving and doubling the height of the existing air traffic control tower plus land acquisition (buying property in Georgetown north of the airfield, as it becomes available).

On Wednesday, Oct 14, residents will have a chance to offer comments on a draft environmental study, which is a required step in the planning process. The draft environmental assessment (Draft EA) evaluates potential environmental impacts of the proposed move. The Draft study provides an overview of reasonably foreseeable environmental impacts related to the proposed move.

Some of those impacts might be how tower lights might shine into the neighborhood from a much taller tower. Or how much more noise might be generated by jet engines 75 feet closer to residential areas.

Find out what the Draft EA says and provide comments about these proposals on Oct. 14, in-person or on Zoom:
