Vera Project announces plans for neighborhood music club and theater

A Seattle music non-profit plans to open a 300-person venue in Georgetown.
The Vera Project is targeting an early 2027 opening for the still unnamed venue in Georgetown at 6250 Stanley Ave S, across from Ruby Chow Park. The organization plans an approximately 2,000 square-foot multi-use space that can be reconfigured as needed.
The space will become the home of a new series of mixed-genre, community-curated events from local underground music and arts, called "Hidden Track,” according to a Vera Project web page describing the plan. A portion of tickets will be “pay-what-you-can” and the venue will have an “open door” policy for mutual aid and nonprofit groups.
The architectural plans include a bar. There are discussions with the state liquor board about permits and options, but the priority is to be an all ages space, said Christopher Walker, the Vera Project's development director. He also lives in Georgetown.
The Vera Project signed a 20-year-lease for the warehouse space. The theater will operate on the ground floor and a soon-to-be-open recording studio and practice space, Georgetown Calling, will operate below.
For 25 years, the Vera Project has hosted all-ages music shows and art exhibits while offering training in music production and screen printing. It is headquartered at the Seattle Center and operates the Black Lodge in South Lake Union.
Having a venue in a South Seattle neighborhood is important because more than 60 percent of the nonprofit's attendees live in South Seattle or a suburb in South King County, Walker said.
"With the cost of living being what it is ... [w]e give a lot of credit to our young people making it up to Lower Queen Anne, but we really feel it is important for them to have a home within their grasp" since so many live on the south end, he said.
